2010 Scholarship Recipient

NWDA is proud to announce that this year’s recipient of the NWDA Scholarship is Zachary Leavitt, son of Doug Leavitt of Four-JAKS.

Currently entering his Senior year at North Carolina State University, Zach has shown exemplary performance in academics, community service, and extra-curricular activities. The mechanical engineering major maintains a Grade Point Average of 3.68, while leading group tutorial sessions at his university’s Undergraduate Tutorial Center, actively participating in the Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship, and volunteering his time and skill with Habitat for Humanity and other organizations to travel to various service trips to help rebuild communities in need.

Zach has made the Dean’s List every semester of his college career and is a part of the University Scholar’s Program, the Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship Leadership Team, and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Design Project, among other organizations.

Zach hopes to put his degree in mechanical engineering to use by finding ways to use his skills to improve systems, improve efficiency and foster better communities. To this end, Zach would like to one day volunteer either locally or internationally in a community that is in critical need of an engineer either for construction, disaster relief, water, or farming.

We could not be more pleased to award the 2010 NWDA Scholarship to such a deserving candidate and extend our sincere congratulations to Zach and his family.

Thank you to all those who applied!

Information about the 2011 NWDA Scholarship will be released in February.
